Bear Bottom Hideaway is located 15 minutes north of Mercer, Wisconsin, the "loon capital of the world." Mercer is a quaint town offering a number of restaurants, a full service supermarket with fresh cut meats, a service station and convenience store and laundromat. A number of sports bars and supper clubs are located in and around Mercer, just check out the Mercer website for more information.


There are two bars (one serving food) on the lake within easy boat travel or just a short walk down the road. Fisher Lake Inn and Island View Lodge are family friendly and great places to grab a drink and a bite to eat. If you are interested in renting a boat, contact Island View Lodge (just down the road from Bear Bottom Hideaway) or SS Sport Store located in town.

For even more shopping, dining and entertainment options, Minocqua is a 45-minute drive south, and Hurley is a 30-minute drive north, in addition to several other towns in the area.
